We're supporting employees at Powys manufacturers with productivity, skills, training and decarbonisation knowledge to improve success in the marketplace.

The Accelerating Decarbonisation and Productivity through Training and Skills (ADAPTS) programme will support manufacturers in Powys, providing unparalleled access to knowledge transfer, training, upskilling and advanced manufacturing technology, to support advancing their digital and decarbonisation knowledge and skills.

The programme will support up to 16 businesses, from any sector, to decarbonise, increase productivity, innovate and upskill employees.

ADAPTS is fully funded through Powys County Council's UK Shared Prosperity Fund allocation.

The UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), Funded by UK Government, is providing £2.6 billion in funding by March 2025 to support local investment across all UK regions, addressing disparities and needs in both affluent and deprived areas.

AMRC Cymru successfully bid for ADAPTS as a means to support employees in local manufacturers with productivity, skills, training and decarbonisation knowledge - areas that we have seen as key drivers in improving success in the marketplace.

Enrolled companies and their employees will be assessed for suitability against the steering committee criteria. The 16 companies which score highest against the criteria will be selected.

  • Great opportunity to strengthen your team, with hands-on understanding of the latest innovations and their potential applications within your manufacturing sector.
  • With the support of up to three engineers from the AMRC Cymru team, alongside your colleagues, you’ll have the opportunity to assess and review;
    • Awareness, skills and knowledge of the three technology pillars (automation, manufacturing intelligence, and design) for employees.
    • Strategies for enhancing employee skills and knowledge transfer in the business
    • Current manufacturing process and opportunities for improvement
    • Opportunity for incorporation of the three technology pillars

If successful, the full-scale support will consist of:

  • Tailored support from the AMRC Cymru engineering team for an average of four weeks, to focus on advanced technology adoption and knowledge transfer
  • The identification of a suitable plan to bridge the workforce knowledge and skills gap with the business requirements for technology adoption
  • The AMRC will recommend a most appropriate technology area based on developing mutual benefit to both the companies and staff through knowledge transfer and upskilling.
  • Project culminating in a dissemination and closing event, which serves as a public showcase of the impacts and achievements of the ADAPTS project. There will also be an opportunity for the AMRC, Neath Port Talbot Group of Colleges (NPTC) and Small World Consulting (SWC) to present the outputs and outcomes, intended to showcase and inspire to develop further knowledge transfer opportunities.
