Advanced Engineering Show

30 October 2024 - 31 October 2024

The Advanced Engineering Show is where engineering and manufacturing meet innovation. The exhibition bridges the gap between sectors for the entire engineering and manufacturing supply chain.

Robyn Elliott, Technical lead at the University of Sheffield AMRC, will be speaking at the Advanced Engineering Show discussing a novel high temperature unidirectional tape. Robyn will be presenting the NATEP project, Tape Extreme. Her session will detail the demand for this new material, advantages and opportunities, the milestones reached to date within the project, the further work required and potential applications.

Thursday 31 October
1pm - 1.15pm
Composites Forum

Within a NATEP funded project (finishing in Q1 2025) the consortium of NEXAM Chemicals, Cygnet Texkimp, Hive Composites and the AMRC are developing a novel high temperature unidirectional tape. Our innovation arises by combining dry UD carbon fibre with a new high temperature resin formulation, which is not currently on the market. This will create an intermediate tape composite material that can be laid like a thermoplastic, but which can be subsequently crosslinked like a thermoset and withstand temperatures of more than 350°C.
