He will chart the history of Global Satellite Navigation Systems (GNSS) from the earliest days of the ‘Space Race’ in the 1960s and 1970s, navigation satellite systems for positioning of nuclear submarines, to the latest plans for modernisation of existing systems.
On 26 June 2004 the EU and USA signed an agreement on the structure and technical aspects to allow unrestricted access to Open services. This led to the many applications of today and the feasibility of other applications in the future.
