Technical Awareness Day: Gear Manufacturing Research Collaboration

13 February 2020 - 13 February 2020

Industrialists' roadmapping event for the future of transmission manufacturing in the UK.

As electrification and lightweighting are introduced to numerous industries, the architecture and specification of transmissions will change. With this change, what are the opportunities for the UK to be at the forefront of manufacturing technology for novel transmissions?

We need the steer of industrialists in order to guide the research focus for our consortium. This in turn will lead to effective collaborative research projects for the benefit of UK industry.

We will be considering topics including the following, all from a perspective of manufacture, and you will be asked to rank your preferences or add to these upon registering your attendance so as to shape the day accordingly:

• Lightweighting
• Electrification / High Speed Transmissions
• Smart gearboxes and smart manufacture
• Additive
• Efficiency
• Other (non gear) transmission components
• Materials and surface engineering
• Remanufacture
• Reshoring

Join us on Thursday 13th February 2020 at the University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) to make your voice heard and shape the direction of UK gear manufacturing research.

There will also be talks on funding opportunities for collaborative industrial research projects and the opportunity to network with peers from the gears industry.

This event is supported and promoted by the British Gear Association as their latest ‘Technical Awareness Day’. www.bga.org.uk
