Advanced Metal Manufacturing Processes

Professor Mark Rainforth, Director of the Henry Royce Institute for Advanced Metals Processing

The Advanced Metals Processing theme in the Henry Royce Institute is to establish a world leading facility for metals discovery, processing, characterisation, upscaling and manufacturing.

The focus of the presentation will be on metals process innovation in the "missing gap" between small-scale laboratory metals processing and the industrial scale. It will address the key themes of materials discovery, resource efficient materials manufacture, light weighting, flexible manufacturing, prototyping and production scale-up. Exploring the Henry Royce Institute and some exciting examples of recent developments in resource efficient high performance metal alloys.
