Celebrating five years of impact
Since opening in 2019, AMRC Cymru has run more than 20 programmes teaching companies how to digitally measure their energy use, engaged with more than 100 small businesses in Wales, and supported more than 50 small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) to date on their digital and sustainable manufacturing journey.
Now, they’re engaging with some of the most innovative companies in Wales, introducing much-needed technological advancements and fostering creativity with the power to accelerate growth of the entire economy.
AMRC Cymru is part of the University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre and a member of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult, a consortium of leading manufacturing and process research centres backed by Innovate UK.
The state-of-the-art centre was fully funded with £20m from the Welsh Government and is managed by the University of Sheffield.

ADAPTS Powys is supporting employees at Powys manufacturers with productivity, skills, training and decarbonisation knowledge to improve success in the marketplace.
The programme will support up to 16 businesses, from any sector, to decarbonise, increase productivity, innovate and upskill employees.
Aiming to benefit businesses, industrialists, energy suppliers, infrastructure providers and academia, the project includes workstreams across energy mapping, decarbonisation roadmaps, developing a land and energy investment prospectus and maximising knowledge transfer across the delivery chain, from early years education (STEM) to organisational collaboration.
Ffatri 4.0 is a collaboration between AMRC Cymru and the Welsh Government.
Using VR digital models and real data, Ffatri 4.0 can highlight key areas for improvement for manufacturers and lead to stronger strategic transformation plans for business growth, helping identify key focus areas within supply chains, with minimal additional equipment and costs.
ADAPTS is a business intervention program that will provide Flintshire manufacturers with unparalleled access in the North Wales region to advanced manufacturing technology engineers and demonstrators, knowledge transfer, training and upskilling in digital and decarbonisation strategies.
